For 50 years, Catholic schools across the nation have recognized the last weekend of January and the following week as Catholic Schools Week. It is such an exciting time for our students, families, teachers, and staff! So much work goes into planning and executing all the special events, traveling to service projects throughout our diocese, inviting new families into our communities, and more. It is truly a time to express our gratitude and dedication to Catholic education. In addition to many other special events, Bishop Walkowiak will celebrate the Catholic Schools Week Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew on Tuesday, Jan. 28. This Mass includes representatives from all 31 Catholic Schools in the diocese, along with Aquinas College, Harmel Academy of the Trades, and many community leaders.

Each day of Catholic Schools Week has a theme as outlined by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). Learn more on their website.

Inspired by the NCEA theme for Thursday, Jan. 30, Celebrating Vocations, and Bishop Walkowiak’s encouragement to pray for vocations, the St. Anthony of Padua school community invites you to gather with them to celebrate vocations and pray for an increase in vocations in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
